Teaching

I have been been teaching statistics to undergraduate students since Fall 2021. Statistics is my first and greatest love, and my goal is to have my students appreciate the need for statistics in their everyday life and work.

Growing up in an Indian household, grades were held at the utmost importance. However, despite doing well in school and college, I don't believe I actually paid attention to material beyond all-nighters and last-minute papers. As such, I did not learn much. Currently, my primary teaching philosophy is based on "Ungrading". According to Jesse Stommel, ungrading is an ongoing process which pivots from traditional grading toward grades which make content/material accessible to students of all backgrounds and across all developmental levels.

Here are some important resources regarding ungrading and teaching stats:

  2. So you want to #Ungrade?

  3. Teaching about inequality

  4. Reducing the impact of stats anxiety in college classrooms
